I’ve never been a huge fan of wearing a smartwatch 24/7.
Don’t get me wrong — smartwatches are useful. But between notifications, charging, and having another screen on my wrist, sometimes I just want something a little simpler.
That’s what made me curious about smart rings.
After looking into the RingConn Gen 2, I can see why this category is getting so much attention. It’s small, discreet, and designed to track your health and sleep without constantly demanding your attention.
So, is it actually worth buying?
Here’s what stood out to me.

A Smart Ring You Can Basically Forget About
The first thing you notice about RingConn Gen 2 is how light it is.
Depending on the size, it weighs around 2–3 grams, so it doesn’t feel anything like wearing a smartwatch.
And that’s important because this isn’t really a device you’re supposed to interact with all day.
There’s no screen to check. No notifications popping up. You simply wear it and let it collect your data in the background.
For me, that’s actually the appeal.
The less I have to think about the wearable itself, the more useful it becomes.
Sleep Tracking Is Probably the Biggest Reason to Get One
If there’s one area where a smart ring makes a lot of sense, it’s sleep.
We all know that getting enough sleep matters. But “I slept for seven hours” doesn’t tell you the whole story.
RingConn tracks things like sleep duration, sleep stages, heart rate, blood oxygen, skin temperature trends, and other overnight metrics.
The useful part isn’t obsessing over one night’s numbers.
It’s looking at the patterns.
Maybe you notice that you sleep worse after late workouts. Maybe your sleep changes when you’re traveling. Or perhaps you realize that going to bed 30 minutes earlier consistently makes you feel better the next day.
That’s the kind of information I find much more useful than another daily notification telling me to stand up.

The Sleep Apnea Feature Is Worth Mentioning
One feature that makes the Gen 2 particularly interesting is its sleep apnea monitoring.
RingConn says the Gen 2 can monitor overnight breathing-related patterns and reports 90.7% accuracy for its sleep apnea monitoring.
Of course, this shouldn’t be confused with a medical diagnosis. A smart ring isn’t a replacement for a doctor or a proper sleep study.
But having another way to notice unusual sleep patterns can still be useful.
If something consistently looks off, you have something concrete to discuss with a healthcare professional.
Battery Life Is a Huge Plus
Here’s another thing I appreciate: you don’t have to charge it every night.
RingConn rates the Gen 2 for up to 10–12 days of battery life, depending on usage.
That’s a big deal for a sleep tracker.
With some wearables, charging becomes a daily routine — and every time you take the device off, you lose another piece of your tracking data.
With RingConn, you can put it on and mostly forget about the battery for days.
That makes continuous tracking feel much more practical.

And There’s No Monthly Subscription
This might be the feature that makes the most sense financially.
RingConn doesn’t require a monthly subscription for its core health-tracking features.
You buy the ring, download the app, and you’re not committing to another recurring bill just to access your own data.
Over a year or two, that can make quite a difference.
It’s also one reason I’d consider RingConn if you’re comparing several smart rings.
What About the Gen 2 Air?
If the regular Gen 2 feels a little expensive, RingConn also has the Gen 2 Air.
The Gen 2 Air is the more affordable option, currently listed at $199, while the regular Gen 2 starts at $299.
Both focus on health and sleep tracking without a required subscription, but the regular Gen 2 adds features such as sleep apnea monitoring and comes with a longer rated battery life.
For someone who simply wants to try a smart ring without spending as much, the Air is probably the easier entry point.
If you already know you’ll wear one every day, I’d personally look more closely at the regular Gen 2.
So, Should You Buy the RingConn Gen 2?
I don’t think a smart ring is something everyone needs.
If you want notifications, apps, GPS, and a screen, stick with your smartwatch.
But if you want something quiet, lightweight, and designed mainly around health and sleep tracking, RingConn Gen 2 makes a lot of sense.
The long battery life is convenient.
The lack of a required subscription is a genuine advantage.
And the fact that you can wear it day and night without constantly interacting with it is probably the biggest reason I’d choose a smart ring in the first place.
It won’t magically make you healthier.
But it can help you notice the habits and patterns that are easy to miss in everyday life.
And sometimes, that’s enough to make a change.

Final Verdict
RingConn Gen 2 is worth considering if sleep, recovery, and long-term health tracking matter more to you than smartwatch features.
It’s discreet, lightweight, has impressive battery life, and doesn’t lock the basic experience behind a monthly subscription.
If that sounds like the kind of wearable you’ve been looking for, it’s definitely worth taking a closer look.
